PART-TIME OFFICE ASSISTANT WANTED (CLOSING DATE DECEMBER 9TH 2011)

The African Diaspora Association is hiring a Part-Time Office Assistant for the period of December to March.

Responsibilities of the position:

- supporting the work of other staff members

- staffing the front desk at the office

- responding to phone and email messages

- performing general office administration work.

- reaching out to the ADAM community to promote ADAM programs and events.

Qualifications:

- university education in arts, social sciences, community services, business administration or related disciplines is preferred.

- advanced computer skills in MS office applications

- excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- familiarity with public relations and marketing an asset

- at least 2 years experience working with a non-profit or government organization is preferred, and prior experience in immigrant services is a definite asset.

- in particular, prior experience as a member volunteering with ADAM and knowledge of the African immigrant community in Nova Scotia is an asset.
