Youth Engagement programs focus on leadership skills development, after school activities, mentorship, educational forums, multiculturalism, and crime prevention. By keeping our youth engaged, we weaken the temptation of being engaged in crimes. ADAM works in collaboration with various organizations and groups to provide programs such as Leaders of Today (LOT) and Annual Youth Exchange.
After school program provides the following services:
- Group library visits with an opportunity for quiet reading
- Sports and recreation such as swimming and soccer
- Homework support through peer tutor volunteers
Mentorship activities: ADAM seeks to promote cultural integration and professional development for youth by partnering them with well-screened mentors.
Multiculturalism: Various activities offered by ADAM encourage inter-racial/multicultural participation and understanding. Such activities include, but is not limited to, community consultations, cultural awareness presentations with public and private sector organizations, sporting activities, and celebration of African Heritage month.
Health Education: ADAM collaborates with various health organizations to promote health education within our general community. For instance emphasis is laid on Health issues such as HIV/AIDS awareness and Women’s Wellness Program.

Research activities: We partner with agencies and individuals for research aimed at understanding issues that affect African immigrants.
Internship and volunteering activities: ADAM provides an environment conducive to volunteering and a way of acquiring relevant work experience for students and other members of our community through program participation and work. In addition, ADAM is working on organizing a career Expo event along with health and other symposiums, Christmas hosting programs, and the African Arts Festival in conjunction with African Diaspora societies in Nova Scotia.
Community Outreach: ADAM provides helpful information on employment, education and health services in Nova Scotia to facilitate settling and integration. These services include:
